The Life Force

pagetitle30_960.gif

Fear and worry have the effect of closing up the channels of the body, so that the life forces flow in a slow and sluggish manner. Hope and tranquility open the channels of the body so the life forces go bounding though it in such a way that disease can rarely get a foothold.

Ralph Waldo Trine (1866-1958) In Tune with The Infinite

What is this Life Force?

Many cultures, for thousands of years, have embraced the notion that there exists within us, and around us, a form of invisible subtle energy (chi, ki, prana) which is responsible for maintaining life and wellbeing. It is considered to be the basis of all life.

This invisible, intangible, life-sustaining, vital force is responsible for nurturing the totality of our being. Its unifying energy connects the physical, the mental, the emotional and the spiritual aspects of our being, creating the wholeness and oneness that is indicative of harmony, balance, and wellness. By virtue of this Life Force, body, mind and spirit enjoy a cohesive and interwoven relationship. It is impossible for one to function without having a connective influence on the other.

Health or disease will be reflected on all levels, with spiritual health or sickness being the most influential of all, inevitably filtering through to mind and body.

This connecting and healing Life Force energy is intended to flow through us in a free and unrestricted stream so that it can bathe us with its power to sustain all functions and bring renewal and vitality.

Blockages

Sadly, we deny ourselves access to this natural force by unwittingly blocking its current within us. Such blockages occur automatically where there is tightness, tension, and rigidity. Disease and illness will ensue, and healing cannot take place.

Tense muscles, tightness in our personality, rigidity of outlook, holding on to damaging emotions, unwillingness to ‘move’ forward, resistance to change – are all examples of obstruction to its free-flowing movement through body, mind and spirit. The Life Force cannot fulfil its purpose if we build and maintain the barriers of tension that we seem determined to create.

In addition, there is a close bond between the Life Force and our breathing; the breath being part of our receptivity to its power. Poor, inadequate breathing diminishes the strength, vigour, and quality of our Life Force, making it difficult for full health and wellbeing to be sustained.

Taking action – rediscover wellbeing!

From the above, we can understand what we need to do. We need to let go of everything that is holding the Life Force at bay; to release everything about us that is ‘tight’.

Relaxation is the absolute starting point, as it is the foundation upon which we can address all other issues. So we start with learning How to Relax in conjunction with improving our breathing; then we allow these skills to infiltrate our normal daily existence by Relaxed Living and finding Relief through Belief.

By following these steps, we evolve into someone whose whole existence joyfully welcomes and appreciates the presence of this subtle energy; we allow it to course effortlessly through us, bringing its cleansing, healing power to our body, our mind, and our spirit.
